One Nation Under God - it was created from the terrorist attack
that happened September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon,
including the unsuccessful attack from flight 93. The montage is created
from what I thought to be some of the most important aspects to remember
for histories sake and for the love of all those who gave their all and
the innocent victims along with their loved ones, also for the next generations
to come.I could not do this painting right after the attack, but when
I came to terms with it, I then started paint. I did this painting very
quickly, considering all the detail and the emotion of each subject. A
lot of tears went into this painting but the release was good for me.
I started this painting at the beginning of November and it was finished
within a few weeks, It was like nothing I have ever painted before, I
was driven to do this, I woke up at all hours to paint, to read about
my subjects, and to write a poem. The poem, well that is a story within
itself and it actually started out to be a cover letter to a fireman in
New York explaining this painting, but it ended up being a poem about
the attack. I was led to write this one early morning and I could not
stop writing until it was finished. This was the hardest painting I have
ever done. I know that you understand what I mean, because I am sure that
you felt the sorrow but also the strength and love that the American people
have for one another and for life. Along with this painting will be
a copy of my poem, they go hand and hand. The original painting
is acrylic and the size is 24'' x 36".
